Humanities Celebrates Women's History Month

The Department of Humanities hosted its annual Women's History Month panel and luncheon on March 7 in the Hermann Hall Expo. This year's event theme was Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Nonviolence. The event featured an all-female panel of students representing countries around the globe.

The event was co-hosted by Lisa L. Montgomery, director of Academic Advising and Student Success, and the panel was moderated by alumna Tiana Morgan (EE '04). Panelists included Ïã½¶´«Ã½ students Larissa Affolabi (CAEE graduate candidate), Basmala Ahmad (CS undergraduate), Austeja Staneviciute (BME undergraduate), and Lara Teagues (ITMG undergraduate).

The annual panel and luncheon features current students as panelists discussing a variety of issues pertinent to women. Topics range from the panelists' experiences as women at a tech school, to issues faced by women in the workplace, to systems, politics, and traditions in countries around the world and how they impact women's lives.
