Ï㽶´«Ã½ was born to liberate the collective power of difference to advance technology and progress for all. Our whole community is committed to deliberate and meaningful work to promote a diverse and inclusive environment that enables everyone to reach their full potential. As president, I am committed to the principle that every voice should be heard, every culture should be respected, and every identity should be honored.

It is critical that we continue to say clearly with one voice that Black Lives Matter. The university leadership and I condemn all forms of racism—structural, institutional, and individual—directed toward Black people in the United States and across the world, and we are committed to ensuring inclusion and representation on campus.

We must embrace and support the Black Lives Matter movement, and we must say clearly in one voice that Black Lives Matter.

This means we must renew our commitment to substantially increasing access for African-American students to our university, as well as increasing the number of African-American faculty and staff members and opening doors of opportunities for their advancement, as well as working to be an even better partner with our Bronzeville neighbors.
